Hot meals are cooked by Education Catering. The children have a choice between a meat, vegetarian, jacket potato or picnic lunch (Summer term) options. There is a wide selection of items on the menu and the meals are very popular with our children. Alternatively, children can bring a packed lunch from home.
Our pupils make their meal choice at registration time which allows our cook to plan the quantities required and ensure the pupils get a meal of their choice.
**Please do not send your child into school with a snack or lunchbox item containing nuts, nut derivatives or sesame seeds.**
Special Diets
Education Catering can provide special diets for pupils with allergies and intolerances who want to have a school meal. Special diets are provided for pupils with a medical problem, not just a dislike of certain food. Education Catering will require medical evidence confirming your child’s allergy.
Further details of the Hampshire Special Diets service can be found online: Hampshire Special Diets
The cost of a school meal for KS2 pupils is £3.20 per day
Payments for school lunches should be made a half-term in advance. We would prefer payment using our online Arbor system (using debit or credit card); alternatively cheques can be made payable to Hampshire County Council or cash can come into the office in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child's name and the amount enclosed.
A free school meal (Universal Free School Meal) is provided for all children in Year R, 1 and 2 if you wish them to have one - again the children request one at registration time.
Are you eligible for free school meals?
The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’. For every child registered, Sparsholt CE Primary School receives funding which enables us to provide additional support and resources.
You can use the Hampshire eligibility checker to see if you qualify for Pupil Premium - https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants
Alternatively ask at the school office to do this for you. We will need some information from you to check your eligibility (your name, address, national insurance number or asylum support service number), along with your child's name and date of birth.
