Welcome to Sparsholt Church of England Primary School. If you are exploring schools for your child, we hope this website helps you discover the warmth, ambition and Christian ethos that makes our village school such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Headteacher’s Welcome – Mrs Gemma Cutler
All our staff, children, parents and carers are incredibly proud of Sparsholt Church of England Primary School. As the Headteacher, it is a privilege to lead this warm, nurturing and forward‑looking village school. We believe deeply in the partnership between home and school and are committed to building a shared responsibility for your child’s education, wellbeing and spiritual development.
Our core Christian values of Courage, Compassion and Creativity lie at the centre of our community and shape everything we do. These Christian values, rooted in the teachings of the bible, guide our children as they grow in character, kindness and resilience. They underpin our vision for every pupil to flourish in mind, body and spirit.
Sparsholt’s beautiful rural location contributes greatly to our distinctiveness. Set in the heart of a thriving village, we benefit from a close relationship with St Stephen’s Church, located just opposite the school. The church is a natural extension of our learning environment: we visit regularly for worship, celebrations, special services and curriculum‑linked activities that deepen pupils’ understanding of faith, community and belonging. We also welcome children from beyond our immediate catchment, with bus services available for families living further afield, helping ensure our school community is inclusive and accessible. Our newly developed pond and forest area enhances our outdoor learning offer, supporting our commitment to providing children with meaningful experiences in nature. As part of our growing outdoor learning initiative, all pupils enjoy curriculum time in these beautiful spaces — developing curiosity, environmental responsibility, wellbeing and a deep connection to the natural world.
Sparsholt is also recognised for the strength of its ethos and the quality of its provision. Our most recent SIAMS inspection graded the school as EXCELLENT, describing Sparsholt as “a truly inspiring place to learn and work” and celebrating how our Christian vision is lived out with authenticity and kindness, enabling pupils and adults to flourish. In our 2023 Ofsted inspection, the school was judged Outstanding for both Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development, with inspectors noting our welcoming atmosphere, exemplary conduct and the impressive leadership shown by our older pupils. These affirmations reflect the distinctive strength and character of our community.
Building on this strong foundation, we offer a vibrant and ambitious curriculum that ignites curiosity and celebrates children’s talents. At Sparsholt, learning goes far beyond the statutory requirements: we believe children benefit from a full, varied and enriched curriculum that broadens their horizons and allows them to discover their passions. Teachers plan rich, well‑sequenced learning experiences — enhanced by opportunities in sport, music, outdoor learning, creative arts and technology — ensuring every child is inspired, challenged and supported to achieve their very best. Our commitment is not only to help children achieve academically, but also to nurture their confidence, creativity, spirituality and love of learning.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. If you are considering Sparsholt for your child, I warmly encourage you to come and see the school in action. A visit will give you a true sense of our caring ethos, our lively classrooms and the strong Christian values that underpin daily life here. Please contact the school office to book a tour — we would be delighted to welcome you.
